Accessible Meditation classes for everyone
Although Meditation might seem mystical, there’s a lot of sound science behind it.
Let me break down some myths. You don’t need to be a Tibetan monk to meditate. Nor do you have to sit for hours in silence or achieve enlightenment either.
In fact, everyone can meditate. The trick is to find what works for you.
My guided meditation classes incorporate the use of various techniques including breathwork, body relaxation, mindfulness, mantras, sound and visualisation. You’ll be sure to experience certain techniques that resonate more with you.
Yes, meditation might feel strange to begin with. Yes, it might take some practise and yes, you’ll still get distracted and have thoughts at times, even Buddhist monks do! That’s all normal.
My mission is to make meditation accessible for all. So, whether you’re a total beginner or seasoned meditator, a child, teen, adult or group of friends or work colleagues, I will have a meditation session that works for you.
Benefits of Meditation
Meditation creates a pause, a chance to just ‘be’ rather than ‘do’.
Meditation creates inner stillness, reflection and connection to your self.
Meditation creates a calm, focused and relaxed state of mind.
The ancient practise of meditation is even more important than ever in today’s frenetic world.
Whilst meditation has been around for thousands of years, its benefits are grounded in modern science. Regular meditation has been scientifically proven to do the following:
- A reduction in stress, anxiety and depression
- Improved focus and concentration
- Enhanced emotional well-being
- Better sleep quality
- Activation of brain regions associated with pain relief
- Reduced blood pressure
- Improvements in cardiovascular risk factors
- Enhanced immune function
Meditation can also lead to spiritual growth, a greater self-awareness and a feeling of connectedness to oneself and the universe.
What Meditation Is Not
Meditation isn’t religious, although it can sometimes feel like a spiritual experience.
It’s also not the same as relaxation although it can feel very relaxing!
Meditating isn’t about getting rid of thoughts either. We wouldn’t be human if we didn’t think. However, it does help us to become more aware of thoughts and redirect them when appropriate.
